Declined transactions

Why a Fundly card payment can be declined, what each reason means, and how to fix it.

First, check the notification

Every decline sends a notification with a reason. Open it in the Fundly web app at app.fundly.xyz before doing anything else. Most declines are solved in under a minute. Cards are issued by [PARTNER], and some declines come from their risk systems or from the merchant rather than from Fundly.

Tier limits explained

Instant cards have monthly limits set by our partner and regulators. At launch that is roughly 1,000 to 2,500 EUR equivalent per month and about 500 EUR per transaction. A single hotel booking or a laptop can hit the per-transaction limit on its own. Verified accounts have much higher limits, up to card-scheme limits per transaction. See Instant vs Verified.

Holds and pre-authorisations

Hotels, car rentals, fuel pumps and some marketplaces place a hold that is larger than the final bill. The hold reduces your available balance until the merchant settles, which can take up to 7 days. If your balance looks lower than expected, check Pending in your transaction list.

Note
A hold is not a fee and is not money taken by Fundly. It is released by the merchant, and we credit it back the moment we receive the release.

3-D Secure confirmations

Many online payments ask you to confirm in the app. If you do not confirm in time, the payment is declined with Not confirmed. Keep notifications on and stay logged in on the device you use for confirmations. See Account security.

Declines while travelling

Fundly cards do not need travel notices. If your payments are declined abroad:

  1. Check the notification reason.
  2. Make sure the merchant is not in a blocked category.
  3. Remember that an FX payment includes the FX fee. See Fee schedule.
  4. Try chip and PIN instead of contactless.

When to contact support

Contact in-app support chat if:

  • The decline reason is Contact support or Card restricted.
  • The same merchant is declined repeatedly with no clear reason.
  • You see a decline for a payment you did not attempt. In that case, freeze the card first, then read Lost or stolen card.
Tip
Send support a screenshot of the decline notification. It shows the code we need.
